Shauna Moradi, owner of Card My Yard Grand Rapids West, saw April 2nd as an opportunity to tell her story. Shauna’s son was diagnosed with autism in September 2020. Therapy appointments and costs associated with supporting her son set her on a mission to find a new job. She needed to support her son financially and be available for him. When Shauna found Card My Yard she saw an opportunity that fit her needs and gave her a chance to spread joy to others. When Autism Awareness Day came around this past year, Shauna didn't hesitate to donate a sign to the Behavior Analysts of West Michigan that would “CELEBRATE DIFFERENCES” that brought her to where she and her son are today.

“Autism can be a misunderstood diagnosis,” Moradi said. “Every person with autism is different, but differences are what make us all beautiful.” She expanded in a post to her Facebook page, “We are honored to help be a part of World Autism Day this Saturday April 2nd. Thank you to Grand Rapids Magazine for catching wind of this and sharing our story. It’s not just about our sons journey, but the entire Autism community. I am grateful to have such a fulfilling purpose with my work! Celebrating and spreading joy is what we do best!
